Perins School
Perins School wanted to install a fully functional broadcast studio,
that had the ability to broadcast through their internal network of student laptops
AND online through their web site.
After speaking with Special Media Projects, a design was drawn up that met every
one of
the schools needs, including some added, special features, including the ability
to act as a satellite studio for the local radio station, and conduct RSL broadcasts
when required.
The studio, consists of a custom designed and hand made laminated studio desk, broadcast mixer, dual CD players, audio processing, phantom powered condenser microphones and the ENCO DAD “Presenter” playout software.
This studio, really is state of the art and most local radio stations would be jealous of the quality of equipment.
In order to get the studio off to a great start, Special Media Projects also provided full training, and visits from real radio presenters from the local radio station. Giving the school unprecedented access to learning resources, above and beyond what was expected.
On October 21st, Play Radio presented their entire breakfast show LIVE from the school

Media Machine
Bournemouth YMCA approached Special Media Projects with a new, exciting
project to build a mobile facility to be used to teach aspects of radio, web design,
music creation and animation.
Working with ENCO, Special Media Projects designed a
vehicle “The Media Machine” to address the needs of the client. The Iveco van now
roams Dorset in a completely self sufficient format.
On board is a complete radio broadcast studio with radio mics, in ear monitoring, an animation centre, music creation lab and an interactive touch screen learning console.
Children from 3 years to 30 years can experience the facilities on board.
As an additional
bonus, the vehicle can link its audio output directly to the Bournemouth community
radio station Hope FM (or any audio location), from anywhere in the world. Using
state of the art audio over IP and 3G technology, the “Media Machine” is the first
installation of its type in the UK to be completely free from wired or RF connections
